The World of Andromeda

Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, starring Kevin Sorbo as Captain Dylan Hunt, represents a new step forward in the evolution of Gene Roddenberry's imagination. In the aftermath of his death, it seems like every piece of paper on which Mister Roddenberry scrawled down some idea or semblance of an idea was scrutinized for potential commercial value.

Hence, we were treated to the Mighty Morphing Earth: Final Conflict. And when Kevin Sorbo left Pacific Renaissance Picture's lucrative Hercules: The Legendary Journeys show, he looked around for a new opportunity to develop his career and improve his financial position.

Okay, maybe the Big Guy was just bored with playing a Greek demi-god in a universe where the gods didn't amount to much. Maybe he was just homesick for North America. It's hard to say. But what we do know is that he took on the project Phoenix Rising, wherein a scientist launches a final starship...well, wait, that didn't work out. Rather, he became Captain Dylan Hunt, last Starship Captain from the crumbling Federation...er, no, that wasn't it, either.

In fact, rumors abounded for several months regarding what project Kevin would take on, but everyone expected him to land in the promising next Gene Roddenberry franchise. And that franchise turned out to be Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, in which Kevin plays Captain Dylan Hunt, last surviving captain of the High Guard, the military force of the Systems Commonwealth.

Yes, they had to invent an entirely new universe after all. And they did a pretty good job of coming up with all sorts of new races and species for SF fans to discuss, fantasize about, dissemble, love, and hate. And that is where this site comes in. We love these new characters, especially Trance Gemini. Especially EARLY Trance Gemini, the purple girl with loads of attitude and the best tail in the universe.

So, we've collected a few story ideas that we think fill in the gaps for some of the first season shenanigans. After all, everyone knows you cannot keep several people cooped up on a huge, self-aware starship for long. They would go crazy. They had to take an occasional shore leave. Or maybe just stop and buy supplies.

So, maybe we should have called this site, "Andromeda's Shore Leave" or something snappy like that, but that wasn't going to work with our nefarious search engine placement strategies. So, we settled for the simplistic (but hopefully effective) "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda - The World of Andromeda". Years of scientific research and extensive theoretical Web design work have gone into producing that phrase. "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda - The World of Andromeda". It sort of has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
